This is a beautiful reflection of a period and style of decor. Art Nouveau spelter lamps were lamps made of a zinc-lead alloy called spelter. This was also referred to as “pot metal,” and was used to make figurines, statues, candlesticks, tableware and other pieces. These lamps are often plated with copper and given a bronze finish.
This lamp features a woman laying on her stomach lifting up the lamp socket shell base. There are some areas where the bronze finish has chipped away consistent with the items age but in overall great condition.
