This beautiful Art Deco style lamp of two ladies holding an apple basket is professionally rewired and ready to add ambiance to your space. This piece is very typical of the Frankart style from the Art Deco period. It is unknown if this is from the Frankart, Inc. collection as a stamp indicating that was not located; however it is very much of that style.
The frosted flame style glass globe adds drama and sophistication to this lamp. There are imperfections to the painted surface where small pieces of the paint has chipped or rubbed off (see pictures). It is otherwise in excellent vintage condition.
Art Deco design was popular modernist design style in the 1920’s-1940’s. Common elements of this style are geometry, symmetry, fragmented forms, vertical lines and elegance.
Arthur von Frankenburg, became a widely respected sculptor and designer in the 1920’s and 1930’s. He developed Frankart inc in NYC in the height of the Art Deco era creating a collection of pieces, typically bookends, ashtrays, nymph/fairy figurines, clocks, aquariums, and lamps. Frankart pieces were made of white lead composition and then spray painted. Frankenburg made his mark with a design legacy that is still highly sought after.
